I just had to add a comment to say YES you are so right. We live a privileged and lucky life and try to cram in as much as possible. My diary reads pretty much like yours. I over planned for the weekend and over activitise my children - because they demand
it! Downtime is so important for all of us and this has just reminded me that I need to plan it in- otherwise somehow things just creep in and before I know it I'm rushing round like a headless chicken - again!

Ah yes. The mental 'weekend' where you're supposed to be resting but end up being busier than during the week... I have to confess I don't enjoy the frenzied activity-filled weekends very much and heave a sigh of relief when our boys demand one at home
in their pyjamas :)

Aren't weekends suppose to be about slowing down? We get to see friends, relax at home and have quality family time. I love my weekends even though I work Sundays - that's one of the reasons I love them I suppose.

Mummy Tantrum Training

Monday, March 29, 2010

Have you ever had a mummy tantrum? I wrote the piece below last April within my fortnightly ezine for mums - Inspire.  The other day, I was talking to a client about her own "mummy tantrums" and how she could minimise them. Whilst I can't claim that the story below represents my only mummy tantrum in the past year, I can claim that they are few and far between, simply because I know why they happen and what to do to avoid them!

Three Steps to Achieving Your Dream From The Girl Who Kissed a Frog

Wednesday, March 03, 2010

Last Thursday during half term week, I took Max and Freddie to see Disney’s new animated film, “The Princess and The Frog”.  This was a film about making your dreams come true, and it espoused some of the lessons that I teach my clients when helping them to define and achieve their own dreams or goals.  This version is a modern day take on the old classic with the star  an African American girl called Tiana from the poor end of town in New Orleans.    Read More

Hi Amanda

I love your newsletter today about the need to 'keep kissing frogs'
on the way to success and find it really inspiring! Thank you....
Best wishes

Hi Amanda, I loved this story and it is so true. About 15 years ago, while not sleeping due to jet-lag and being slightly uneasy about my role at work, I had a very clear vision of me doing work helping managers to create working environments that really helped people to be their best. I could even see my business cards! I was so excited. By morning a bit of objectivity/caution had set in so I didn't resign immediately but somewhere I must have kept the vision and I remember about 5 years later, when I had extablished myself as a leadership coach, remembering it. Spooky these visions! R xx

For many Inspire readers in the UK, this week is half term holiday, and I started writing this Inspire around the theme of coping with half term holidays.  But suddenly (about 30 minutes ago in fact )  I remembered that  I still haven’t worked out childcare for Max on his Inset Day on Monday.     Read More

Thanks Amanda
I needed to read this this morning - just like little Miss Neat I feel overwhelmed sometimes picking up after 3 sons and a husband. I've learned to step back a little and avoid walking into rooms sometimes to avoid the frustration I feel at having to clean up yet again. It's so true though about being thankful for it - I'm grateful for a full, busy home - and I wouldn't be without any of them - I need to take them as they are - mess included. Thanks for the reminder Amanda
